Peter Schröder-Bäck graduated with a Master’s degree from Georgetown University (Washington, DC). He received his PhD from Ruhr-University Bochum (Germany) where he was a researcher at the Centre for Medical Ethics and member of the DFG-Graduate School “Criteria of Justice in Economics, Social Ethics & Social Policy”.
Peter continued as a fellow at the Centre for interdisciplinary Research (ZiF) of Bielefeld University (2003-4) before joining the Institute of Public Health NRW (lögd) (2004-8). At the lögd he coordinated the EU-Projects „Benchmarking Regional Health Management II“ and the „Public Health Genomics European Network (PHGEN)“.
Peter is member of several review and editorial boards, vice-president of the section of "Ethics in Public Health" of the European Public Health Association (EUPHA), member of the Working Group "Ethics and Values in Public Health" of the Association of Schools of Public Health in the European Region (ASPHER) and president of the section "Public Health Ethics" of the German Society for Social Medicine and Prevention (DGSMP).
In September 2008, Peter became Assistant Professor in the Department of International Health at Maastricht University. Since 2011 he serves here as an Associate Professor. Peter is the coordinator of the Bachelor and Master “European Public Health”.
